Hiroshima

I just got back to Tokyo from Hiroshima. What a moving experience. It’s so eerie to be there. I went to the Peace Memorial, the stories were scaring. I can’t do them justice here in this medium. If you’re ever in Japan, go and see for yourself! It changed my outlook and solidified my belief that we can (and must) learn from those events.

Right now I’m in Ginza at the Apple Store. It’s good to get some free internet surfing and air conditioning.

Off to Shibuya later for dinner. I miss Vancouver a little but Tokyo is really great! It’s a shame that I only have two days left.

Off to Japan

It feels like ages since I’ve been abroad.

I’m just at YVR right now waiting for my plane and there’s a free wireless spot (”datavalet”) here. Which is awesome! Geekiness at its finest. Skype even works.

I’m flying on a Boeing 747 with JAL. I’ve never been with them before but I’ve heard good things. And, I guess, it’s not hard to beat Air Canada.

I’ll be gone for a week …

Blogging from TextMate

I saw this this today and it tickled me in a weird way. TextMate is a crazy beast and it’s interesting to see blogging support in a text editor.

Textmate Blogging

I also liked the automatic uploading of images as you drag them into an article. Something MarsEdit could learn from.

Apple vs iPod

For kicks, I wanted to see how the “Apple” and “iPod” brands compare on Google Trends. I was a little surprised on how close the two brands are in terms of mindshare.

It’s really interesting! You can try “iMac”, “iBook”, “MacBook” vs “iPod” as well …

Radiant CMS

Managing a website is a huge pain. There’s so many tools out there and they all have serious limitations or they’re way too complicated to setup and use.

That’s why I was really pleased when I heard about Radiant CMS today. I gave it a quick spin and it seems like it’s doing everything right (ie simple enough to work). Very nice interface.

I can’t wait till they release a 1.0 product!
